Director, WW Community Environment and Technology Programs
As part of the Business Objects Community team, I am responsible for our Technology Donation program. By working with non-profits and social enterprises, Business Objects helps demonstrate the value they create to donors and investors thereby gaining access to greater and more consistent funding, and better manage their operations to serve more clients more efficiently.
I have been working in the software industry since 1994 and have lived and worked in Canada, the UK and France in IT, R&D, Product Management and Marketing roles. Most recently, I was responsible for Product Marketing for Business Objects OnDemand – delivering Business Intelligence via a software-as-a-service model over the web.
Since starting with Crystal Decisions in Vancouver, I have been connected to the Community team. I was a founding member of the Employee Grant Making Committee, served on the Enterprise Software Donation board and have been directly involved with many non-profits – as part of Business Objects and personally. On a personal basis, I volunteer working the late night shift at an alcohol and drug crisis line and have been doing so for over 13 years.
I have a BA in Political Science from University of Western Ontario (part of a long-abandoned plan to go to law school), an MBA in Management of Technology from Simon Fraser University and am presently completing the SFU Certificate Program in Community Economic Development (the idea for socialoffsets.ca came up in a course on CED Approaches to Affordable Housing).
I now live in Vancouver, BC (the least affordable city in Canada) – close to the mountains, the forest and the sea.
